An argument on a patio at the Summerland Heights Apartments in Woodbridge, Virginia, on the evening of September 16, 2023, ended in the shooting death of 43-year-old Kareem Rasheen Tyrone Harris. The male victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an acquaintance in the 1800 block of Gableridge Turn when the altercation escalated.
Police responded to a call about the shooting at approximately 7:19 p.m. and found Harris suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers administered first aid at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation led police to identify 25-year-old Malcom Andre Monts, a neighbor of Harris, as the suspect. According to authorities, after shooting Harris, Monts returned to his own apartment within the same building. He was later detained by officers without incident.
Monts was arrested and charged with murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center.
