On Christmas Eve of 2020, in the quiet town of Glen-lyn, Virginia, 60-year-old Diane May Clyburn, a Caucasian female, was found deceased in her home. The tragic discovery was made after the Giles County Sheriff's Office received a request for a wellbeing check at her residence on Risley Circle in the late afternoon.
Upon their arrival, deputies were unable to establish contact with anyone inside the home. After making entry, they discovered a grim scene.
Diane was found in a bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound. In another bedroom, her husband, 54-year-old Eric Todd Clyburn, was also found deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The subsequent investigation by the Giles County Sheriff's Office led authorities to conclude that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide. Investigators determined that Eric Todd Clyburn had shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. The medical examiner's office conducted autopsies which supported the findings of the sheriff's office. With the perpetrator deceased, the investigation was closed, and authorities confirmed that there was no ongoing threat to the public, and they were not seeking any other suspects in connection with Diane's death.
