In the winter of 2021, the life of 18-year-old Adreonna Robyn June Bug Keffer was tragically cut short. A female resident of Salem, Virginia, Adreonna was known for her goofy sense of humor and a laugh that could brighten any room. Though she could be clumsy and had a fiery temper, it was her immensely compassionate heart that truly defined her. She had a deep love for caring for the elderly and held a fierce loyalty to her family, especially her younger sister, Keira.
On the night of Valentine's Day, February 14, 2021, a call about suspicious circumstances led Roanoke police to the apartment Adreonna shared with her 22-year-old fiancé, DeAngelo Bonds. Upon arrival, officers discovered a scene that spoke of a violent struggle. The apartment was in disarray, and though no one was inside, the evidence left behind painted a grim picture of what had transpired.
Subsequent investigation led police to DeAngelo Bonds, who was found in his car miles from the apartment. He informed the authorities that he had disposed of Adreonna's body. An extensive search of the Roanoke River tragically uncovered her remains. Bonds was arrested and charged in connection with her death.
In March 2022, DeAngelo Bonds pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and concealment of a dead body. He was subsequently sentenced to 50 years in prison for the death of his fiancée, Adreonna Keffer.
