Authorities identified 54-year-old Gregory Lavon Curtis, a Navy veteran, as the individual who shot Dwyer before taking his own life at the scene. Curtis was found deceased on the pavement just outside the vehicle where Dwyer's body was located. According to police, there was no evidence to suggest that Dwyer and Curtis had any prior relationship or had even met before the fatal encounter.
