On a spring morning in Springfield, Virginia, the lives of a distinguished military couple were brought to a violent and tragic end. Edward McDaniel, Jr., a 55-year-old active-duty Army colonel and physician, and his wife, Brenda McDaniel, a 63-year-old retired Army colonel and nurse, were fatally shot in the front yard of their home on May 26, 2021.
