In the late hours of November 28, 2021, the community of Greenbush, Virginia, was disturbed by the sound of gunshots. Responding to a call, deputies from the Accomack County Sheriff's Office arrived at the 21000 block of Adams Road to find a man lying unresponsive in a yard. The man was identified as 30-year-old Eric Gerard Ames, known to his friends and family as 'EZ.'
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A subsequent investigation, involving the Virginia State Police and other local agencies, determined that Ames had been fatally shot. His body was sent to the Norfolk Medical Examiner's Office to confirm the cause of death. Ames was a graduate of Arcadia High School and was remembered by his loved ones for his enjoyment of basketball and his support for the New York Giants. He was a father to a son and a daughter.
