In the winter of 2021, a grim discovery was made on the side of Blanchard Road. The body of a man, later identified as Lamar Douglas Jones, was found inside a stolen car that had been set ablaze. Investigators determined that Mr. Jones was the victim of a homicide before the fire. He was 31 years old at the time of his death. The male victim’s death was the result of a gunshot wound.
Following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, law enforcement officials
were able to identify a suspect. Jamarius d'Angelo Rogers was arrested and charged with the murder of Lamar Douglas Jones. In addition to the murder charge, Rogers also faced charges of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. At the time of his arrest, it was noted that Rogers was a convicted felon and was not legally permitted to have a weapon.
Authorities have indicated that they believe Rogers may be connected to other violent crimes, including two other murders. While he was being held without bond for the death of Mr. Jones, investigators appealed to the public for any information regarding his potential involvement in other unsolved cases. The relationship between Rogers and Jones was described as being friends who would often listen to music together.
