In the early hours of December 14, 2021, a domestic tragedy in Chesterfield, Virginia, claimed the life of 47-year-old Makiba Anyana Hall. The incident, which unfolded in the 7400 block of Barkbridge Road, also left her son with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chesterfield County Police responded to a call about a shooting at approximately 2:06 a.m. Upon their arrival, they found Hall's adult son in the front yard suffering from gunshot wounds. Inside the residence, they discovered the bodies of Makiba Hall and her long-term partner, 51-year-old Christopher B. Evans. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigators determined that Evans shot Hall and her son before taking his own life. The police have indicated that they are not seeking any other suspects in this domestic-related murder-suicide. Hall was a U.S. Army veteran who worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Kenner Army Health Clinic. Those who knew her described her as a loving person who was always smiling and encouraging others.
