On a summer evening in Chesterfield, Virginia, the life of 64-year-old Barbara Seamster Hogue, a female, came to a tragic and unexpected end. On July 6, 2013, police were called to a residence on Lark Hill Lane in the quiet Bon Air neighborhood after reports of gunshots. When they arrived, they discovered Barbara outside the home, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Inside the house, authorities made another grim discovery. Barbara's adult son, Jeffery S. Hogue, was found deceased from what was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The subsequent investigation by the Chesterfield Police concluded that the tragic event was a murder-suicide. Investigators determined that Jeffery Hogue shot his mother before taking his own life.
The community was left reeling from the shocking news. Barbara was a retired accountant and was remembered by those who knew her as a kind and thoughtful person.
