In the early morning hours of January 7, 2022, the sound of gunshots echoed through the 1600 block of West Pembroke Avenue in Hampton, Virginia, prompting an anonymous call to the police at approximately 6:11 a.m. Officers responded to the area but were unable to find any evidence of a shooting. Later that day, around 5:23 p.m., a resident of an apartment at 1625 West Pembroke Avenue returned home to a grim discovery.
She found her friend, 31-year-old Tyrique Brandy Moore, a Black male, deceased in her living room.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and pronounced Moore dead at 5:33 p.m. An investigation by the Hampton Police Division revealed that Moore had been shot four times. The initial call about shots fired earlier that day was now tragically connected to the discovery of his body. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, a motive for the shooting has not been publicly released, and the circumstances leading to the violent encounter remain unclear.
The investigation into the death of Tyrique Brandy Moore was launched as a homicide. However, as of now, no suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with his murder.
