In the late summer of 2022, the life of Mahdi H. Holland, a 25-year-old Black man from Roanoke, Virginia, was tragically cut short. On the morning of August 20th, Holland was brought to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with severe gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries, and his death was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting an immediate investigation by the Roanoke Police Department.
