In the quiet community of Gore, Virginia, a verbal dispute on a September afternoon escalated into a fatal encounter, ending the life of 28-year-old Jeffrey Mark Behneke Jr. On September 15, 2022, law enforcement and emergency services were dispatched to a residence on Whitlock Lane following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Behneke near the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
Despite the efforts of EMS personnel, he had no pulse and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly focused on Thorsten Schulze, the resident of the home where the incident occurred. Schulze was present when authorities arrived and was promptly detained. According to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, their investigation indicated that a verbal argument between Schulze and Behneke had escalated, tragically culminating in the fatal shooting of Behneke.
Following the initial investigation and interviews conducted at the scene, Thorsten Schulze was arrested. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Jeffrey Behneke Jr. and was held at an adult detention facility.
