In the early morning hours of September 30, 2022, a motorist driving in a Chesterfield County neighborhood near Richmond, Virginia, made a grim discovery. Lying in the roadway of the 5000 block of Vayo Avenue was the body of 36-year-old David Christopher Rosado. When Chesterfield Police responded to the scene around 5 a.m., they found Mr. Rosado deceased.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner would later determine that he had died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide. David, who was described as a beautiful, kind-hearted, and giving soul with an unmatched sense of humor, was a resident of the very block where his life was taken.
The investigation into David's death quickly progressed. Police indicated that the homicide did not appear to be a random act. Just two days later, on October 2, 2022, an arrest was made in connection with the killing.
Kevin W. Haymore, a 21-year-old from Richmond, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Haymore was subsequently held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond. The investigation into the death of David Christopher Rosado continued, though authorities did not release further details about a potential motive or the relationship between Rosado and the accused. A memorial service for David was held on October 11, 2022, at the New Life Outreach International Church in North Chesterfield.
