On an autumn afternoon in Mansfield Township, New Jersey, the life of a dedicated state trooper came to a tragic and violent end. It was October 24, 1997, when 35-year-old male, Trooper Scott M. Gonzalez, identified a pickup truck matching the description of a vehicle used in a robbery earlier that day in Independence Township.
