In the early morning hours of April 24, 2014, the life of 23-year-old Aaron Roger Lewis was tragically cut short. A Black male from Hamilton Township, New Jersey, Lewis was discovered shot near Sanhican Drive in Trenton. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community in search of answers. For years, the investigation into his death yielded few leads, and the case grew cold, compounding the grief and uncertainty for his loved ones.
Aaron, born on June 30, 1990,
was a 2008 graduate of Hamilton High School West. He was remembered for his warm personality and was a devoted father to his young son. His sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of his parents, sister, and extended family, who continued to hope for a resolution to the senseless act that took him from them.
After eight long years of persistent investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, a breakthrough finally came in July 2022. Authorities announced the arrest of 40-year-old Jonathan Woody of Trenton in connection with Lewis's murder. Woody faced a series of charges, including murder and weapons offenses. The arrest, a result of unwavering dedication from law enforcement and cooperation from the community, brought a renewed sense of hope for justice for Aaron Lewis and his grieving family.
