On the night of June 13, 2014, in Newark, New Jersey, 29-year-old Mustafa Hutchins was found unresponsive on Sussex Avenue. He had been fatally shot. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office reported that he was discovered around 11 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene just minutes later. Hutchins was a Black male resident of Newark.
