In the early hours of August 7, 2017, a 27-year-old Black man named Rashon S. Brown of Newark, New Jersey, was left at Newark Beth Israel Hospital with at least one gunshot wound. Brown, who had recently relocated to Paterson, was dropped off at the hospital at approximately 1 a.m. and was pronounced dead just 34 minutes later, despite the efforts of the medical staff.
