On a Monday afternoon in Paterson, New Jersey, a dispute escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of Antoine Garris, a 27-year-old male. The incident, which occurred on September 15, 2014, began with a verbal altercation outside of Moya's Bar on 10th Avenue. Andrae Green was reportedly arguing with his wife when Garris intervened, leading to a heated exchange of words between the two men.
The argument appeared to subside as Green left the area.
However, he returned approximately ten minutes later, armed with a handgun. He then opened fire, discharging seven shots, five of which struck and fatally wounded Garris. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Garris was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Andrae Green fled the city, prompting a manhunt. Authorities identified Green as the suspect and began their search. Their efforts led them to Rochester, New York, where Green was apprehended by the United States Marshal Service on October 8, 2014. He was subsequently charged with the murder of Antoine Garris.
Green's first trial in September 2017 resulted in a hung jury the following month. However, the prosecution pursued a second trial, and in April 2018, a Passaic County jury convicted Andrae Green of first-degree murder and second-degree weapon possession.
