On a tragic summer morning in 2015, the life of 24-year-old Alicia Martinez-Izaguirre was cut short in a violent act of domestic violence. Originally from Honduras, she had moved to the United States at the age of 15 in pursuit of a better life and resided in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Described by her family as a cheerful and hardworking individual, she had attended school and was gainfully employed.
