In the early hours of May 4, 2017, the life of 23-year-old Ashley Bradby was tragically cut short on a sidewalk in Jersey City, New Jersey. A resident of Jersey City, the young woman was a mother to a son. Her death was the result of a violent domestic dispute that spilled out into the street.
The incident unfolded around 2:20 a.m. when Jersey City police were dispatched to the vicinity of 290 Bright Street after receiving a report of two people down.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered the bodies of Ashley Bradby and 29-year-old Tyquan Thomas. Both individuals had sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
An investigation conducted by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit revealed that Bradby and Thomas were in a dating relationship. The preliminary findings indicated that the couple had been involved in a domestic dispute at a nearby residence, which escalated and moved outdoors. It was on the street that Thomas fatally shot Bradby before turning the handgun on himself in a murder-suicide. A handgun was recovered at the scene by authorities.
