In the spring of 2016, a single act of violence tragically cut short the life of 16-year-old Ciony Kirkman, a Black female from Trenton, New Jersey. On the evening of April 24th, Ciony was inside a minivan on Jersey Street with six other teenagers when shots were fired at the vehicle. A bullet struck her in the head, and she succumbed to her injuries two days later, on April 26, 2016.
