On a late summer morning in Trenton, New Jersey, the life of a young woman was tragically cut short. Twenty-year-old Keyauna Hughey, a Black female, was in her second-floor bedroom of her Spring Street apartment on September 9, 2016, when violence shattered the peace. She was with her boyfriend when she was fatally shot, a single gunshot wound to her shoulder ending her life. The Trenton Police were called to the scene around 11:13 a.m. and found her deceased.
