In the early morning hours of November 6, 2016, the life of 28-year-old Gene Bolie, a Black male, was tragically cut short on a street in Paterson, New Jersey. Bolie was shot outside 74 North Main Street at approximately 1:40 a.m. Responding police officers found him and rendered medical aid before he was rushed to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries in the emergency room.
The investigation into Bolie's death was immediately launched by detectives from the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. His death marked the city's 19th homicide of that year, contributing to a significant surge in violence that had begun in August.
Investigators noted that just two months prior to his death, Bolie had been arrested for loitering to commit a drug offense near the same area where he was fatally shot.
Despite the active and ongoing investigation into the shooting, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in connection with Gene Bolie's murder. No arrests have been announced, and the case remains unresolved.
