Ryon C. Reynolds, a 45-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on June 6, 2017, in Washington Township, New Jersey. The incident occurred at the NJ Transit bus garage on Black Horse Pike where Reynolds, a bus driver for the company, was arriving for his shift around 1:30 p.m. Authorities quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act.
The investigation identified the shooter as 44-year-old Piacenta M. Jackson of Woodbury. Jackson and Reynolds had been in a romantic relationship that had recently ended. Jackson, a New Jersey Department of Corrections officer, used a gun that she legally owned to shoot Reynolds in the back.
Following the shooting at the bus garage, Jackson fled the scene.
Her vehicle was spotted by police officers who attempted a traffic stop. Jackson pulled into a parking lot at Center and Trenton streets in Mantua Township, where she exited her car and died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. As the sole suspect in Reynolds' murder, Jackson's death concluded the investigation, and no arrests were made.
