In the early morning hours of September 3, 2017, a sense of tragedy befell the city of East Orange, New Jersey. Breanna Williams, a 23-year-old African American woman from the neighboring city of Orange, found her life cut short in an act of violence. Williams was seated in a car on Chelsea Place when she was struck by gunfire around 1:40 a.m.
