Tyrone 'Face' King Sr., a 51-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Trenton, New Jersey, on Sunday, September 17, 2017. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. inside a deli on the 900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. Responding to calls of shots fired, police discovered King on the deli floor, unresponsive and bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The investigation into the shooting was conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. In December 2017, authorities arrested 42-year-old Wade J. Williams in connection with King's death. Williams was charged with murder and weapons offenses.
Friends and family remembered King as a 'good dude.'
Following his arrest, Williams, who is reportedly disabled and uses a wheelchair, was indicted by a Mercer County grand jury in March 2018. The indictment included charges of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree certain persons not to possess a firearm. Williams remained in custody at the Mercer County Correction Center following the indictment.
