In the late afternoon hours of a Friday in Neptune, New Jersey, tragedy struck on the 500 block of Sayre Street. On September 29, 2017, 37-year-old Frantz Paraison, a male resident of Neptune, was shot while inside a gray 2004 Acura MDX. The quiet street was disrupted by the violence that claimed not only Paraison's life but also that of his passenger, 37-year-old Shaezeel Collins of Toms River.
When Neptune Township Police responded to a 911 call, they discovered both men inside the vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Collins was pronounced dead at the scene, his life extinguished in an instant. Paraison, still clinging to life, was rushed to the nearby Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The double homicide prompted an immediate and intensive investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Neptune Township Police Department.
In the initial aftermath of the killings, law enforcement officials appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the perpetrators. Detectives from both the county and local police departments were assigned to the case, and the Monmouth County Crime Stoppers offered a reward for information leading to an arrest. However, in the years that have followed the violent deaths of Frantz Paraison and Shaezeel Collins, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects. The case, which cut short the lives of two men, appears to have gone cold, leaving their families and the community without answers or a sense of justice.
