In the city of Orange, New Jersey, the life of 50-year-old Randall Price, a male resident, was tragically cut short in a violent encounter. On the evening of New Year's Day in 2018, the sound of gunshots pierced the air in the 100 block of Taylor Street, prompting a police response at approximately 7 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene. Two men, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, were found. One of these men was Randall Price.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:44 p.m. The second victim, 41-year-old Rodney Chery, also a resident of Orange, was rushed to University Hospital in Newark. Despite undergoing surgery, Chery succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:40 p.m.
The Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force launched an investigation into the double homicide.
