Summary based on 1 source
In the quiet community of Bloomfield, New Jersey, the life of Aristedes 'Teddy' Statiroudis, a 43-year-old Caucasian male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end on the morning of March 12, 2018. He was discovered unresponsive on a sidewalk near Milbank Park, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene shortly before 9 a.m., marking the beginning of a complex homicide investigation.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force, in conjunction with the Bloomfield Police Department, took the lead on the case. Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, suggesting that Statiroudis was targeted. In the immediate aftermath, a heavy police presence was maintained in the area to ensure the safety of the community while detectives began to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter.

For a time, the case remained shrouded in mystery with no publicly identified suspects or arrests. However, the investigation eventually uncovered a sinister plot connected to a large-scale narcotics enterprise. It was revealed that Statiroudis was a federal informant who had been cooperating with law enforcement. Authorities alleged that Michael Healy, the purported leader of the drug enterprise, ordered Statiroudis's murder after discovering his cooperation.

In a tragic case of mistaken identity weeks prior, on February 3, 2018, members of the enterprise had shot and killed an innocent bystander whom they mistook for Statiroudis outside his residence. Realizing their error, the group conspired again to carry out the order. On that March morning, two masked gunmen, identified as members or associates of the drug ring, approached Statiroudis and fired multiple shots at close range, ending his life. Subsequently, several individuals were charged in connection with the murder. Three men, Tyquan Daniels, Ali Hill, and Thomas Zimmerman, all of East Orange, later pleaded guilty to racketeering charges that included their roles in the murder of the federal informant.
