In the early morning hours of May 4, 2018, the life of 27-year-old Kelly A. Wiley, a Black female, was tragically cut short in a shooting that occurred in downtown Newark, New Jersey. Just after 12:30 a.m., Newark Police responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Hill and Court streets. Upon their arrival, they discovered Wiley suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:02 a.m.
