In the early evening of June 10, 2019, Hassan Reeds, a 46-year-old male from Irvington Township, was fatally shot in Newark, New Jersey. The incident occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the South Ward, on the 400 block of Chancellor Avenue, not far from Weequahic High School. Responding to reports of gunfire, police discovered Reeds at the scene with a gunshot wound to his head. He was quickly transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
