In the spring of 1978, the quiet community of Mesa, Arizona, was unsettled by a brutal and perplexing crime. On the evening of April 10th, a young girl named Pamela Newton, who was 12 or 13 years old, left her home in neighboring Tempe after a disagreement with her family. She was reportedly walking to a nearby convenience store to meet with friends, a common routine for the junior high student.
