In the early morning hours of May 14, 2020, the life of 34-year-old Andre Reevey of Camden, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. Police were called to Crestfair Drive around 4 a.m. following a report of a person being shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Reevey suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting uncovered a more complex situation than what initially met the eye. Detectives determined that the shooting did not occur outside where Reevey was found, but rather inside a nearby apartment.
It also became apparent to investigators that an attempt had been made to clean up the crime scene, suggesting an effort to conceal the circumstances of the deadly encounter.
Following the investigation, authorities identified a suspect in the fatal shooting. Dwayne Hightower, a 41-year-old resident of Camden, was charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with Andre Reevey's death. Hightower was apprehended by the Collingswood Police Department and subsequently charged on May 29. He was then held in the Camden County Jail to await a pre-trial detention hearing.
