In the late spring of 2020, the city of Paterson, New Jersey, was struck by a wave of violence that left the community reeling. On the evening of Sunday, May 31st, this spate of shootings claimed the life of 34-year-old Wahmeen Combs. A male resident of Paterson, Combs was inside a residence at 331 15th Avenue when the sound of gunfire shattered the night. Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of shots fired and discovered Combs suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
