On a summer evening in Newark, New Jersey, the life of Rasheed Mells, a 24-year-old male from the neighboring town of Irvington, was tragically cut short. On Saturday, July 16, 2022, on the 700 block of South 20th Street, Mells was shot. The Essex County Sheriff's Office was notified of the shooting, and upon their arrival, they found Mells grievously wounded. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:07 p.m.
