In the early morning hours of June 21, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet on the 500 block of South 17th Street in Newark, New Jersey. Rasheen Scott, a 40-year-old male, was struck by the bullets at approximately 12:40 a.m. The violence of that moment marked the abrupt and tragic end to his life, a life that was concluded on a night of widespread shootings throughout the city.
