On the evening of July 20, 2022, a tragic event unfolded on the 300 block of Clinton Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. Ronhazim Skipper, a 48-year-old male, was walking with his young child when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 6:53 p.m., prompting a swift response from Newark Police.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Skipper suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported by emergency medical services to University Hospital. Despite the efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead shortly after, at 7:06 p.m. Miraculously, his young child, who was with him at the time of the shooting, was not physically harmed.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, in conjunction with detectives from the Newark Police Department, immediately launched
an investigation into the homicide. Authorities have been actively looking into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. However, as of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Ronhazim Skipper. The investigation remains active and ongoing as law enforcement continues to seek information from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
