On October 22, 2023, at approximately 3:55 p.m., Newark police responded to reports of a shooting on the 300 block of Renner Avenue in Newark's South Ward. Upon arrival, officers discovered 60-year-old Vincent J. Anderson, a resident of New York City, outside with a gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention, Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:11 p.m.
