On the evening of July 27, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the summer calm in a Camden, New Jersey neighborhood, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Naseem Hanif Lindsey, a 24-year-old Black male, was in the 100 block of North 25th Street at approximately 8 p.m. when he was struck by multiple gunshots. The sudden violence prompted a rapid response from Camden County Police, who arrived to find Lindsey grievously wounded.
Officers swiftly transported him to Cooper University Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite their efforts and the work of medical personnel, Naseem Hanif Lindsey was pronounced deceased at 8:30 p.m.
The investigation into the shooting quickly gained momentum. Surveillance footage from the area proved to be a critical piece of evidence, capturing a chilling scene. A white Nissan Altima, which had been reported stolen earlier that day, was seen with individuals inside firing weapons. Shortly after the fatal shots were fired, the vehicle was recorded fleeing toward the Cramer Hill section of the city. This breakthrough provided investigators with a clear direction, leading them to identify several suspects.
In the weeks that followed, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office announced a significant development in the case. Four individuals from Camden were arrested and faced serious charges in connection with Naseem Lindsey's death. Three young men, 19-year-old Angelo Roman, 20-year-old D'Angelo Hill, and 19-year-old Geunel Lajara, were taken into custody. A fourth suspect, a male juvenile whose identity was not publicly disclosed due to his age, was also apprehended. All four were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Following their arrests, Roman, Hill, and Lajara were lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility, while the juvenile was held at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center, as they awaited further legal proceedings.
