In the crisp autumn afternoon of October 3, 2022, just as the school day ended, 16-year-old Letrell Duncan’s life was tragically cut short on the streets of East Orange, New Jersey. A sophomore at East Orange Campus High School and a rising basketball star, he was walking home around 3:15 p.m. when he was fatally shot multiple times near the intersection of Lincoln Street and Park Avenue. He was rushed to University Hospital in Newark but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
