In the late afternoon of November 2, 2022, the life of 35-year-old Ramy Garcia was tragically cut short in Millville, New Jersey. Responding to a call at approximately 4:24 p.m., police arrived at a residence on North 4th Street to find Garcia in the backyard with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
According to accounts from witnesses at the scene, Garcia had been involved in a struggle over a handgun with 39-year-old Edwin Ramos-Rosado. During the altercation, the firearm discharged. After gaining control of the weapon, Ramos-Rosado reportedly shot Garcia in the head.
Immediately following the shooting, he fled the scene in a silver Mercedes, prompting a manhunt by law enforcement who warned the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The search for Ramos-Rosado concluded the following morning when he was apprehended by authorities. He was subsequently charged with murder and weapons-related offenses in connection with Ramy Garcia's death. Following his arrest, a judge ordered him to be held without bail pending a detention hearing. The investigation into the full circumstances of the fatal shooting remained ongoing.
