In the turbulent summer of 1967, amidst the smoke and chaos that engulfed the city of Detroit, a 27-year-old Black man named Henry Denson lost his life. On July 25, 1967, as the city was consumed by a historic uprising, Denson was a passenger in a car driving through the tumultuous streets. In the early morning hours, near Mack Avenue and East Grand Boulevard, the vehicle was met by National Guardsmen who had been deployed to quell the unrest.
