Sheriff Duane A. Badder, aged 47, tragically lost his life on October 29, 1979, in Rogers City, Michigan. Sheriff Badder was responding to a call involving a man who had fired shots at his neighbor's home. The suspect was well-known to law enforcement, and Sheriff Badder attempted to de-escalate the situation by persuading the man to drop his weapon.
