Patrol Officer Clay Hoover, aged 24, tragically lost his life on July 9, 1987, in Inkster, Michigan. Officer Hoover, along with Sergeant Ira Parker and Officer Daniel Dubiel, was attempting to serve a warrant for a bad check written by a 68-year-old woman at a motel on Michigan Avenue. The officers were met with unexpected violence when the woman's three sons opened fire, resulting in the immediate deaths of all three officers.
