Andre Barksdale, a 22-year-old police officer with the Detroit Police Department, tragically lost his life on November 2, 1987, while responding to a domestic disturbance call. The incident occurred at 12695 Blackstone Street in Detroit, Michigan. Officer Barksdale, who had been with the department for nearly two years, was called to the scene where Jesse White, also 22, had taken his six-month-old daughter, Mercedes Smith, from her mother's home and brought her to his residence.
