Shynelle Marie Mason, a 21-year-old police officer from Detroit, Michigan, tragically lost her life on July 14, 2000. Officer Mason was off-duty and spending time with friends near a Mobil Mart station at Fenkell and Schaefer when the incident occurred. The group was approached by three men who initiated a conversation. When the women declined to engage, the men became argumentative.
