In the summer of 2006, a bright and loving five-year-old girl named NiYauna Sanay Jones had her life tragically cut short. On Thursday, July 6, 2006, in Flint, Michigan, NiYauna was the victim of a senseless act of gun violence. She was caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting and passed away at Hurley Medical Center. A resident of Flint, NiYauna was born on January 10, 2001, to Erma M. Jones and Darren Mance.
