In the summer of 2011, a grim discovery was made on the west side of Detroit that left a family shattered and a community in shock. On June 26th, authorities responded to a call in the 19000 block of Westmoreland, near 7 Mile Road. There, they found the remains of two young men who had been shot and their bodies severely burned. One of the victims was identified as 24-year-old Charles W. Reid, a Black male from Detroit. The other victim was 26-year-old Martez Norwood.
