Jakari Pearson, an 8-year-old boy from Detroit, Michigan, tragically lost his life on July 30, 2014. Jakari was asleep in his home when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 1:20 a.m., at the Brewster Homes public housing project. The bullet that killed Jakari penetrated a wall and struck him in the chest while he was in bed.
