Catherine J. Franklin, aged 37, tragically lost her life on December 1, 2014, in Detroit, Michigan. The incident occurred during a confrontation at a tax-foreclosed home in the Rosedale Park neighborhood. Catherine and her father, Howard Franklin, 72, were attempting to evict occupants from the property they had recently acquired at a tax auction. The home had been purchased by Howard Franklin in October 2014 for approximately $36,000 in taxes and fees.
